Concept of the Guild Commission & its members

There are multiple Guild Commissioners. Initially, HOLF wanted to have one active Commissioner for each major continent where Guild members reside:

  • North America
  • Europe
  • Australia

Later, the Foundation added another Commissioner from North America so that the Canadians would have a representative and then another to counteract the north/south split due to player alignment in CWOL. This extra Commissioner was expected to increase information flow during an active game of CWOL. At last count, there are five Guild Commissioners: Jim Voege (CA), Dave Whipple (CSA), Roger Placzek (stand-in for Europe), Murray Hill (ANZAC), & Karl Chandler (USA).

The Commissioners are omsbusmen for the Guild membership. They are relied upon by the Foundation and the GAs to help get information about activities out to the Guild members. The long R&D phase (2003 to present) has kind of deterred the utility of the concept because we do not have the same intensity in the gaming events we had before when CWOL was running. The Guild Commissioners have assisted with the administration of the training academies from time to time.
