Holf War College Archives

As part of the HOLF War College re-design, a repository for records, articles, maps, & files from past game events, the War College Archives, has been initiated. The construction of the Archives is undergoing some design questions and it is asked that members of the Players Guild make comment on which format they prefer as well as the nature of the contents.

At: http://www.holf.org/warcollege2009/archives/index.htm is a listing of old CWOL files and the NWOL-1 Newspaper articles that were posted. This style of records uses an old style HTML-based Index Page with a list of hyperlinks by category. The files listed are several old files from CWOL 1 and the BLADD user test (Labelled the BLADD beta). Compare this format & organization to what Matt Majewski did for the 2009 Spring Games (http://www.holf.org/guild/drupal1/forum/32). Review, compare, and submit your comments to this posting.

Additionally, the more relevant generic articles from the old CWOL School of Doctrine have been transferred from the old site and placed in the current War College Library. The catalouge for these articles can be found at: http://www.holf.org/warcollege2009/library/index.htm

Personally, I think that I would like a blend of both styles.

I would envision a relatively concise overview as the main body for view. This would have real time played, simulation date , setting, situation. A roster of players and positions held and OOB. Then, post a brief account of the campaign. Finally, post a statement as to any lessons that may have been learned to make the next simulation better.

The next section to be a branched information dump so that those interested can go deeper as to what transpired in that simulaton. This to include:
Team generated newspaper articles and other propaganda
Maps Personally I love maps and believe they can tell a story in few words. Having 1-3 maps showing the course of the campaign should be able to tell a story in very few words.

Judging by what is presently posted, I tend to think that no one person is in possession of all the information to make the archives complete. Thus it will likely be imperative that this project will be heavily dependent on membership participation submitting any accounts that they may have or remember about each campaign. This to include the above points and through multiple submissions it is likely to have a more complete and unbiased account of each campaign.
