The Rape of Mannheim

The French conducted an unprovoked assault on the lightly defended city of Mannheim. Twenty-two Fr units filled the countryside on both banks of the river preventing any Wuerttemberg citizens from leaving the city. The mayor of Mannheim offered any terms to prevent the impending destruction of the city, but his pleas fell on deaf Fr ears. The Fr felt that the 4 Wuerttemburg units garrisoned there were a threat to France and must be dealt with.
The Wuerttenburger units faught valiantly, but they were vastly outnumbered and the Fr were successful in storming the city. But as they faught their way to the west, Wuerttemberger units proved just as capable as their Fr foes:

Seems the Fr are not as invincible as they would have us all believe!

Fred of Wuertt

help on the way

I believe the French won't stay long in your city as they have pressing business in France. So you should be able to retake the city. Once I crush the Prussian corps north of Erfurt, I will continue my march through Hesse and after defeating them, I will help you mop up whatever Prussian and Palatinate forces are left in your region.

Von Gottes Gnaden König von Preußen

AH The old "win the battle,

AH

The old "win the battle, loose the war" ploy. I salute you on your optimism!

I look forward to hearing similiar reports next turn, although hopefully it will the Palatine and Prussian units beating off the Wuerts!

Never post drunk...unless that is your norm.

do the German princes unite?

The plains of Germany have served as a battleground for Europe for
much too long. Do we princes of Germany allow this to continue?
