Spam message and increasing HOLF Players Guild safeguards

To all members,

Today, it was discovered that we had what we believe to be our first spam infiltration into the HOLF Players Guild Forum (by someone going by the moniker Rose in the email). I just want all of you to know that this email has nothing at all to do with this site or with HOLF.org, and it should be ignored or reported as spam immediately to your respective email servers. We are taking some corrective actions to hopefully cut off the source of the spam from reaching us again, and to make sure that this sort of thing does not happen in the future. After all, one of the many reasons we transitioned over to this format was to avoid the issue of spam in member email boxes.

We have blocked some of the newest member emails who have not responded to our contact attempts, since we believe the spam may have originated from one of them. In addition, our Administrators will take extra care that no new member is permitted to have any access on the site until they have had direct contact with Administrators or me and verified their identity and interest, unless they have been "sponsored" by an already existing and active member beforehand. Your email privacy and security is obviously very important to all of us, so please let me know if you have any further issues or questions related to spam originating from any HOLF site.

Thanks,
Matt
