Ever since the Austro-Union War the citizens of the kingdom have been suffering from a lack of real leadership. King Smith I disappeared shortly after the war began in earnest, following his disappearance, the military forces were left without their Commander-in-Chief and suffered humiliating defeats in the Venitian Front of the war as a result. Speculation was rampant about his whereabouts, some claimed he was with a Portugese mistress, or hiking the Alpine Trail.
Regardless of the location of his seemingly self-imposed exile, the Kingdom was left under the nominal control of Prime Minister Duce Jason Fitch of Sicily. Despite his best efforts he was hampered at almost every corner due to bureaucrats demanding royal approval.
With it's resources becoming increasingly nonexistent, and its morale at an all time low, the Generals in the Army acted.
Earlier this week elements of the 3rd and 5th Neapolitan Infantry Brigades seized the royal palace in Napoli. By the next morning they made the pronouncement that Prime Minister Duce Fitch, himself a distant Bourbon would be the new Monarch.
3 days later, His Holiness the Pontiff, Pope Certamen I crowned him Fitch I of Sicily, King of Naples and Sicily. Duke of Napoli, Lavoro, Molise, Capitanata, Basilicata, Bari, and d'Otranto, Prince of Citra and Ultra. Grand Master and Chancellor of the illustrious Royal Order of Saint Januarius.
Another King?
My Brother King,
I say, what a lot of Changes on the Thrones around here! Not sure I approve of a Prime Minister becoming King. They're usually too Greasy and Barrister-Like, and enjoy Paperwork and Debates and Writs and What Have You entirely too much.
Well, welcome to the Club anyway, don't forget to wipe your Feet when you come in and speak loudly to the Servants; they aren't too Bright! I believe they are Entirely from Belgium, or Barcelona, or some Sort of "B" Place. Mummy said it would be worth having a Good Revolution just to get a New Lot of them.
What ho!
David the First, by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France, and Ireland, Defender of the Faith, Duke of Brunswick and Luneburg, Duke of Bremen, Prince of Verden, Duke of Saxe-Lauenburg, Archtreasurer and Prince Elector of the Holy Roman Empire, Elector of Hanover, Sovereign of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle, of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, of the Most Illustrious Order of Saint Patrick, and so forth
Mummy?
We may have to bump off another Monarch soon.
John Vanvark
