The London Times

Exclusive from the Admiralty:

The First Sea Lord of the Admiralty, Sir David Angst, has made the most momentous of Declarations this day, on the steps of the newly-commissioned Monument celebrating our string of Wonderous Naval Victories this Year. We quote:

"It is with a modest yet stern Countenance that I am presenting this words to this Assembly today. With the recent Victories God and the Navy have provided for our Nation, we at the Admiralty feel Confident to declare that the Seas are now safe for Trade, wherever that Trade may be. The Scourge that was the Enemy Fleet, namely French and Dutch ships, has been eradicated from the Waves that surround our valiant Island; indeed from the Waves that flow over this World. We can see No Dangers apart from the Wrath of Nature itself that would present any Degree of Violence to the Peace seeking Traders of all Nations, save for those in League with the afore-mentioned French and Dutch.

We do wish that all of this Wonderous News was due entirely to the Actions of our Intrepid Officers and Stalwart Tars, yet our Modesty prevents us from doing so, as many of the Sunken Ships have been destroyed at the Hands of their own Crews. If only we had been able to persuade the Dutch of the Folly of being a Puppet to the Frogs, their Ships would be Safe and Sound.

The Admiralty encourages all Merchants to resume Business and Commerce, to make this a Truly Prosperous Time for all Britons and those who chose to Side with us.

To Ensure that our Victory remains present in the Minds of all who travel in London, we do hereby dedicate this Column with a Statue of Winged Victory upon it, to stand in this Square that will henceforth be known as Victory Square.

God Save the King!"

Sir David then took several questions from journalists and merchants alike, before boarding his coach to return to the flagship, HMS Britannia, waiting for him at Portsmouth.
