Denmark Fishwrap || Volume First and Volume the Last

The Foreign Minister from Prussia recently made this statement
"Prussia bent all it's efforts to ensure Mecklenburg and Denmark weren't invaded and taken over by France and Holland. How short some memories are".

The Minister is speaking of the war in Hanover and Berg. And I think that guy from Venice has his facts mixed up. I say he is mixed up because anyone actually here at the time would be lying if they said that.

The fact is that neither Denmark or Mecklenburg were ever in any danger of being taken over by France or Holland. They never had any interest in us and we could easily have watched from the sidelines. Instead we took our little army out for a spin and to help out the Burgs and the Hanovians. And the Prussians.

After the war we were all summarily dismissed and ignored by the new Prussian government. And as the latest events unfolded we were told to mind our own business. How short some memories are.

A Little Perspective Please

First let me say that Berg was attacked. Berg is a dedicated ally of Prussia whose score is included in Prussia's combined score. Plus, if Hannover was overrun, guess where that puts the principal French field army -- on the Prussian border. So Prussia's principal motivation for defending against the Franco-Dutch invasion was direct self-interest. Don't get me wrong. Nobody who played with him would question David Zumsteg's wholehearted support for the cause and raw eagerness to help. But this new bit making Prussia sound like its efforts were entirely unselfish is utter hogwash.

Secondly, into the same category belongs the notion that a takeover of Hannover would not have directly impacted the other coalition partners. Last game we were all treated to "Price is Right" diplomacy. This game it was La Brunian diplomacy. Same thing. How else would you characterize the unprovoked invasion of Hannover and Berg? You really think people with this kind of mindset would have stopped at the border of Hannover? I guarantee once Hannover was gone you would have been instructed as to your foreign policy, just as Denmark was last game. And you would have obeyed or suffered the same fate as Hannover. And don't forget that Denmark's water provides no protection from application of the Revolutionary State rules which, I remind you, apply equally well to minors as they do to frags.

You all merely made the sensible decision to fight for your independence in someone else's territory. To now suggest that you did not share common cause is quite remarkable.

Denmark entered the war for

Denmark entered the war for the exact reason I already stated. We won't deny our self interest. To be clear, we have done nothing that wasn't motivated by self interest. If our best interests induces us to help our friends then even better. The reasons you put forth for our involvement were the same arguments used to get us to join. We did not then and do not now agree, but we joined for our own reasons. And you are also very welcome.

I will say that had Prussia

I will say that had Prussia cocooned and decided to focus East instead of West and didn't overbuild it's army and nearly bankrupt itself in the west playing an important role within the coalition do you believe had France won they would have respected your borders?

Probably not.

So yes we did help protect you.

Never post drunk...unless that is your norm.

thanks from Dresden

The King of Sachsen and his government offer their thanks to your nations for coming to the aid of another country who had also offered support to the Prussians only to be dismissed and then attacked.
