Thus, a unit at 5-11 (marked U) could not move north if there was an enemy unit at 5-6, or 5-9, or 7-6, or any of the other squares marked N in the diagram. It could not move northeast if there was an enemy unit at 8-7 or 9-9 or any square marked NE in the diagram, and so forth for each of the 8 directions.
The rule for defining the cones is as follows: To trace the edges of the cone in a primary direction (N, S, E, W), move two squares in that direction, then one square diagonally, then one square in the original direction, and so forth, alternating between movement in the primary direction and the diagonal. To trace the edges in a diagonal direction (NE, SE, SW, NW), move one square in the diagonal direction, then one square along a row or column, then one diagonally, and so forth, alternating until you reach the edge of the tactical map.
